Wes Laird Introduces Senator Richard Shelby at 4H Groundbreaking Ceremony
The Alabama 4-H Foundation held a groundbreaking ceremony October 17, 2006 at the State

4-H Center in Columbiana. The groundbreaking was for
a new Environmental Science Conference Center and will be a hands-on learning center which will be LEED certified
as a self-sustaining environmentally friendly building. The addition is the result of an $8 million
capital campaign by the Foundation. Wes Laird, who participated in the opening of the center as Alabama State 4-H Council President 26 years ago and a current Foundation Board member, served as Emcee. He introduced Auburn University President Dr. Ed Richardson and U.S. Senator Richard Shelby among other speakers. Senator Shelby helped secure $1 million infunding for the project. More photos
