| Laird,
Baker & Blackstock to Expand to Florala
The Opp law firm of Laird, Baker & Blackstock,
LLC will open its first Florala office August 1. The office will be located
at 23285 Fifth Avenue. This is the site of long-time Florala attorney
Steve Sansom’s office.
Laird, Baker & Blackstock was built from a solo practice opened in
1987 in Opp by Florala native Wesley Laird. Laird graduated from Florala
High School in 1980. “It’s good to be back stomping the same
sidewalks I stomped as a kid,” said Laird, who represents clients
in personal injury and other civil litigation.
David Baker joined Laird in 1991. “We have always had a good number
of clients in the Florala area, so it will be good to have the convenience
of an office for them,” says Baker, who handles criminal, domestic,
and personal injury cases.
Thomas A. “Andy” Blackstock was brought into the firm in 1995.
Blackstock handles real estate, probate, and bankruptcy matters.
Blackstock says he is excited about the expansion,
which will allow the firm to expand into the Florida real estate market.
“The real estate market in Florida has been exploding in recent
years. Now it seems to be spreading to Covington County,” said Blackstock.
“We anticipate being able to handle closings and title work on both
sides of the state line.”
Steve Sansom opened his successful law practice
in Florala in 1983. He soon became well known in the Florala area for
his trial talents and skills, as well as his gentlemanly country lawyer
style. “When Steve and I first talked about this, we had not considered
opening a Florala office. But it didn’t take us long to decide to
come,” according to Laird. “We are thankful for this opportunity,
and we are especially glad to have Steve ‘of counsel’ to our
firm.” |
